Cumulus clouds are the large, cotton ball like clouds that carry large amounts of precipitation. Generally the bottom of cumulus clouds are flat and are sometimes as low at 1000 meters to the ground. (about 10 football fields) While the bottom of the clouds are usually flat, the tops are very tall, closely resembling cauliflower. These clouds can sometimes result in stormy, dark, cumulonimbus clouds which bring thunderstorms.
